Cougars Shut Out Pride in Season Finale

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The College of Charleston softball team defeated Hofstra 8-0 in five innings to close out the 2024 campaign on Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.
Payton Lemire pitched a two-hit shutout in the final game of her collegiate career, striking out the final two batters of the game.
Brooke Marquez ended her career with an all around stellar performance this weekend, hitting two doubles today to record her fourth of the series and go 8-9 at the plate.
Halle Cannon and Marquez each recorded hits in the second inning to help load the bases before Kaytlin Stacey drove in Cannon for the first run.
The Cougars rallied for four runs on four hits in the third frame led off by Mia Dittoe while Shealyn Starks hit a two-RBI single. Sierra Paradis singled to load the bases again to set up Stacey's two-RBI single for a 5-0 lead.
Starks led a two-out rally in the fourth with her second hit of the day and Marquez drove in two runs with her second double of the afternoon. Paradis recorded her second hit of the day to score the game-sealing run.
