MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball defeated Seton Hall, 4-1, Friday afternoon in the first game of a three-game set at Patriots Point.
The College improves to 4-1 on the year while the Pirates fall to 1-3.
Junior Jake Brink threw 5.1 scoreless innings before handing the ball off to fellow third year Derek Duval. After allowing a run in the seventh, redshirt junior Alex Lyon and senior Davis Aiken allowed one base runner in the final 2.2 frames, striking out a pair of Pirates.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST SETON HALL:
- Junior Payton Frehner hit Charleston's first home run at home, a solo shot in the fourth, kicking off a run in four straight innings for the Cougars.
- In the sixth, Frehner scored following back-to-back doubles with senior Dylan Johnson.
- Brink has thrown two shutout starts to begin the season while not allowing a single run.
- Aiken threw a perfect ninth to collect his first save of the campaign.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series against Seton Hall.
- Brink has allowed just five hits in his first 10.1 frames of the year, striking out eight batters.
- Senior Dariyan Pendergrass recorded his second career 3-hit game and is a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen bases in 2025.
