MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball defeated No. 21 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.
 
The Cougars improve to 23-16 overall, sweeping the season series over the Chanticleers, who slip to 30-11.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST COASTAL CAROLINA:
- CofC plated its first run of the ballgame in the second as graduate Avery Neaves stole home on a first and third steal attempt.
- Senior Dariyan Pendergrass collected two RBI Tuesday, making it a 2-0 contest in the fifth on an RBI groundout before singling in the seventh to bring home freshman Alex LaCoste.
- After surrendering a two-run homer in the top of the eighth, freshman Matthew Dominianni's bases loaded walk gave the Cougars a 4-2 advantage.
- Freshman Drew Medley made his first collegiate start, tossing 2.1 scoreless frames. Senior Garrick Murray followed Medley, not allowing a run in two innings of his own.
- Senior Davis Aiken came into the game in the eighth, collecting the six-out save, his eighth of the campaign.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston now sits 28-27 all-time against Coastal Carolina and improve to 18-8 at home.
- The Cougars picked up their first ranked victory since opening the 2023 season with a 5-2 win over No. 14 Virginia Tech.
- 8 of CofC's 28 wins versus the Chanticleers have come when Coastal is ranked. All of the ranked victories have come since 2009.
- Head coach Chad Holbrook picked up his seventh ranked win leading the Cougars, three of which have come against Coastal Carolina.
- CofC improves to 6-2 on Tuesdays in 2025 and are now 216-12 when leading after the eighth inning under Holbrook.
- Medley is the first Charleston freshman whose first collegiate start came against a ranked opponent since Player Loving on April 16, 2013, against No. 14 South Carolina.
- Senior Dylan Johnson has hit eight doubles in his last 11 ballgames.
