Cougars Travel to Elon in First Place Showdown

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Two teams that find themselves locked in a four-way tie for first place in the CAA meet this weekend when College of Charleston visits Elon for a three-game series.
The Cougars and Phoenix open the set Friday at 5 p.m. followed by games Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed on FloCollege.
Charleston and Elon are both 9-3 in the CAA and tied for the lead with Campbell and Delaware. The Camels are at Monmouth while the Blue Hens visit UNCW this weekend. The Seahawks and Stony Brook are tied for fifth with 7-5 conference records.
The top six teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the CAA Tournament, which will be held May 7-10 in Buies Creek, N.C.
The Cougars are riding a five-game winning streak including a sweep of Drexel last weekend and a 4-2 victory over a Coastal Carolina team that was receiving votes in several national polls. Charleston has also won 13 of its last 18 and is looking for its fourth CAA series win of the year.
Elon won its first three conference series before dropping two of three at Delaware last weekend. The Phoenix hold a 37-34 lead in the all-time series against the Cougars which includes meetings as members of both the Southern Conference and CAA dating back to 1999.
