
Cougars Open CAA Tournament Play Against Hofstra

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston opens its postseason journey on Wednesday at 2:30 when the Cougars face Hofstra in an opening round game of the CAA Tournament in Buies Creek, N.C.
Charleston (30-23, 20-7 CAA) enters as the No. 3 seed and Hofstra (20-26, 15-12) is seeded sixth. The teams met during the regular season with the Cougars taking two of three in Hempstead, N.Y.
The winner advances to take on No. 2 seed Elon on Thursday at 2:30. The loser must come back Wednesday night for an elimination game against the loser of the game between No. 4 Campbell and No. 5 Stony Brook.
The tournament continues through Saturday with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. Delaware is the top seed after capturing the regular season title and faces the Campbell-Stony Brook winner in its first game on Thursday at noon.
The Cougars bring a season-high seven-game winning streak into the tournament as well as their first 30-win season since 2018. Charleston has won 25 of its last 34 and already has 20 more victories than during the 2024 campaign.
Charleston opened its series at Hofstra by rallying for four runs in the seventh in a 6-4 win. After dropping the middle game, 6-2, the Cougars got a three-hit shutout by Mackenzie Mathis in a 2-0 victory.
