CONWAY, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball makes its first midweek trip of the campaign when it takes on No. 6 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, Feb. 17. First pitch from Springs Brooks Stadium is slated for 4 p.m. with the game airing on ESPN+.

FIRST PITCH:
- Charleston improved to 20-1 on Opening Day since 2006 and 9-0 under head coach Chad Holbrook with an 8-3 victory over Rutgers.
- Redshirt senior Alex Lyon earned the win, tossing 4.2 scoreless frames out of the bullpen. Lyon yielded just four hits without allowing a free pass en route to taking over sole possession of third on the all-time appearances list in school history with 79.
- The Cougars lost the series to the Scarlet Knights, who took both games of Saturday's doubleheader and secured the series win with a victory Sunday.
- Junior Brent Gibbs was a machine at second base for Charleston, collecting 19 assists during the weekend slate.
- Gibbs also collected six knocks while crossing the plate three times against Rutgers.
SERIES HISTORY:
- CofC is 28-27 against Coastal Carolina in the all-time series and were one of just four teams to hand the Chanticleers multiple losses in 2025. Only Charleston, Wake Forest, Troy and College World Series Champion LSU defeated Coastal twice.
- The Cougars beat the Chants 15-5 in eight innings in Conway last Feb. before taking a 4-2 win against the then-21 ranked Coastal squad at Patriots Point April 22.
UP NEXT:
- Charleston returns home to face South Alabama Feb. 20-22 and Air Force Feb. 23 at Patriots Point. Friday's opener versus the Jaguars will begin at 4 p.m. with all home games airing live on FloCollege.
