MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball was defeated by South Alabama, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST SOUTH ALABAMA:
- Blake Guerin singled in all three runs for the Jaguars with a single in the second and two-run single in the fourth.
- Charleston cut into the deficit in the home half of the fourth when senior Payton Frehner dropped a ball into right to plate junior Braeden Smith.
- Redshirt junior Carson Bryant went 3.1 for the Cougars in the setback.
- Redshirt senior Alex Lyon matched his season-high with 4.2 scoreless innings before graduate Kurt Rogers tossed a scoreless ninth.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 5-3 all-time against South Alabama.
- Lyon made his 80th career appearance with the Cougars.
- Lyon has thrown 4.2 scoreless innings in his first two outings of the 2026 campaign.
- Frehner has an RBI in five of his six games and in three straight contests.
