]MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball fell to UNCW by a score of 8-1 Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.
Freshman Jace Stancil yielded two runs in the setback while striking out a season-high nine batters.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST UNCW:
- Scoreless through the first four frames, UNCW took the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth.
- Charleston cut that lead in half in the bottom of the inning when sophomore Landon Penfield launched his second homer of the season.
- The Seahawks kept the bats going, scoring two more runs in each of the sixth and seventh before tacking on two more insurance markers in the ninth.
- Stancil went five innings in the loss, allowing both runs to score on five hits and one walk.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 25-29 against UNCW in the all-time series.
- Stancil's 9 strikeouts are the most by a CofC freshman since Daniel Brooks fanned 11 batters Feb. 26, 2022, against Siena.
- Charleston 13 strikeouts on the mound are the most in a home game since May 13, 2023, versus UNCW.
- Sophomore Alex LaCoste extended his hitting streak to nine games with a double in the eighth.
