MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost 8-2 Saturday afternoon against Hofstra at Patriots Point.
Charleston slips to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the CAA while Hofstra picks up its first win of 2026, improving to 1-7 and 1-1 in league play.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST HOFSTRA:
- For the second straight game, redshirt senior Ethan Plyler gave CofC a 2-0 lead with a two-run knock in the first, singling home sophomore Landon Penfield and redshirt junior Braeden Smith.
- Hofstra leveled the game at two in the third before scoring in the fourth and fifth innings.
- The Pride broke the contest open with a three-run eighth before freshman Jake Amman plated Charleston's third run of the ballgame in the ninth.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 22-13 all time versus Hofstra.
- Redshirt senior Alex Lyon appeared in his 83rd career game Saturday afternoon.
- Amman extended his hitting streak to eight contests with the single in the ninth.
UP NEXT:
- Charleston and Hofstra conclude the conference opening series with a 1 p.m. rubber match Sunday from Patriots Point.
