
Long Ball Leads Cougars to Series Win

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball launched a pair of home runs as it beat Hofstra, 5-4, Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point.
The Cougars earned the series win, improving to 7-8 overall and 2-1 in the CAA while Hofstra slips to 1-8 and 1-2 in the league.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST HOFSTRA:
- Trailing 1-0, Charleston used a four-spot in the third to jump out to a 4-1 advantage that it would never relinquish.
- Graduate Dylan Johnson recorded his second double of the afternoon, plating graduate Will Tippett.
- Holding a 2-1 lead, sophomore Alex LaCoste hit the first of two long balls for The College on the afternoon, serving a 2-1 pitch just over the right field wall for his first shot of the year.
- Freshman Stow Rogers clobbered his first career home run in the sixth, sending a ball 435 feet.
- Hofstra looked to mount a comeback in the ninth, scoring a pair of runs to make it 5-4. Graduate Kurt Rogers was able to get a ground out to end it, securing his first save of the campaign.
- Freshman Kaden Myers tossed 4.1 scoreless out of the bullpen, allowing just two hits and one walk in his second victory of the year.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 23-13 all time versus Hofstra and 18-4 at Patriots Point.
- Bryant recorded a season-high four strikeouts.
- CofC has hit multiple home runs twice this season.
- Rogers and Tippett both collected their first multi-hit performances of the year while Johnson had his fifth of the campaign.
- Rogers' 435-foot shot is the longest recorded homer in the last two seasons.
- Charleston improves to 85-17 under head coach Chad Holbrook when hitting multiple home runs.
- Charleston's pitching staff have allowed three-or-fewer walks in nine ballgames.
