
CofC Falls in Final Regular-Season Game to Elon, 8-4

The Cougars end the regular season 31-31 overall and 12-8 in the SoCon. The
CofC opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning. Junior Tiffany Harmon led off with a triple to deep right field and was driven in by a single to left center from Kristi Woodall. Shannon Howard doubled to score Woodall. The Cougars would end the inning with two runs on three hits.
Elon responded in the bottom of the first with three runs on two hits. With one out, Tracey Dahlen smacked a two-run home well over the left field fence. Allison Hartman followed with a one-run home run to the same spot. The
The Cougars seemed to surge back in the top of the sixth with two runs. Christal Kotchman reached first after being hit by a pitch to bring up sophomore Brittany Small. Small hit a two-run bomb well over the 208-foot fence in left center field. The CofC comeback would end there as the next three batters were retired.
Teri Mesko (12-18) pitched one inning before allowing four earned runs and three hits. Howard threw four innings in relief. She struck out four batters, allowed six hits and four earned runs. Alexa Datko closed the game out for the Cougars.
Woodall led the offense. The Huntersville, N.C., native went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Harmon, Howard, Small and Mesko each added one hit a piece.
