Philadelphia, Pa. – The College of Charleston scored three times in the first but fell victim to the long ball as Drexel rallied for an 8-5 victory and a 2-1 win in the Colonial Athletic Association series.
Kelly Sinclair led off with her second home run in as many days to get the Cougars (17-18, 2-4 CAA) off to a quick start. Yari Felix doubled and scored on a single by Lexee Emanuel, and a two-base hit by Dexlie Inman plated Emanuel to cap the inning.
The Dragons (17-11-1, 5-1 CAA) answered in the second with their power bats. Taylor Lee hit a two-run homer, and Linda Rush followed a pair of singles with a three-run shot to give Drexel a 5-3 lead off starter Izzy Berouty.
Trailing 7-3 in the fourth, Alondra Vicary singled in a run but the Cougars left a pair in scoring position. Emanuel singled to lead off the fifth but was erased on a double play, and another twin killing thwarted the Cougars in the sixth after Inman singled and Brittany Vicary doubled with one out.
Drayton Siegling was solid in relief, working out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the sixth and finishing with two strikeouts in a pair of scoreless innings. Jenna Helberg made it 8-5 with an RBI single in the seventh, her ninth run driven in over her past four games, before a comeback attempt was cut short.
Brittany Vicary had her second three-hit game of the week, and Felix, Emanuel, Helberg and Inman each added two in a 13-hit Cougar attack.
