Charleston, S.C. – The College of Charleston takes on Drexel in the first game of the CAA Tournament at Veterans Memorial Park in Harrisonburg, Va., on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
The winner of the game between the fifth-seeded Cougars (25-28) and No. 4 seed Dragons (30-25-1) will face host and top-seeded James Madison (44-7) at 4:30 while the loser takes on the loser of Wednesday's second game between No. 2 Elon (31-18-1) and No. 3 Towson (27-25) at 6:30.
The double elimination event continues through Friday with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Hofstra, the defending CAA champion, did not qualify for the field this year.
The Cougars are in the tournament for the fifth time in six seasons under head coach Linda Kalafatis. A year ago, they earned two wins over UNCW but lost twice to JMU. Charleston dropped two of three to the Dragons in the regular season series in Philadelphia but still hold a 13-6 all-time lead.
