Cougars Drop Pair to Jacksonville State, New Orleans

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston saw its three-match winning streak come to an end with a pair of setbacks to Jacksonville State and New Orleans on the final day of the Hampton Inn Charleston/West Ashley CofC Invitational on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jacksonville State capitalized on multiple unforced errors by the Cougars en route to a straight-set sweep to begin the afternoon session. In the evening match, New Orleans bounced back from a 25-21 loss in set one with wins in the second, third and fifth frames behind a 73-kill effort. The Privateers compiled a .337 hitting percentage in the match and edged the Cougars in service aces by a 7-4 margin. Charleston finished with 59 kills and a .244 attacking clip after forcing a fifth frame with a 25-23 win in set four.
 
COUGAR OF THE MATCH
Senior Peyton Eisnaugle finished the day with 24 kills, eight blocks and a .452 hitting percentage to earn all-tournament honors. The Dallas, Texas native posted eight kills with two blocks and a .500 hitting percentage against Jacksonville State. She paced the Cougars with 16 kills, six blocks and a .429 attacking clip against New Orleans.
 
NOTABLES
  • Senior Lauren Freed posted a pair of double-doubles to push her season total to four.
  • Sophomore Amani Dunston dished out 49 assists on the day including a career-high 33 against New Orleans.
  • Logan Manusky paced the Cougars with 34 digs including a match-high 21 against New Orleans.
  • Mandy Napierala put down 15 kills and hit .333 against New Orleans.
  • The Cougars amassed 15 kills and hit .325 in their fourth set win against the Privateers.
 
NEXT UP
The Cougars return to the court next Saturday, September 28 when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on James Madison in both teams' Colonial Athletic Association opener.
