CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston makes the short trip up I-26 Tuesday for a doubleheader against Charleston Southern. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
The Cougars and Bucs have met 88 times, with CofC holding a 56-32 advantage including 21-14 at CSU. The teams had played every season since the CofC program began in 1993 (except for 2002) until last year's games were canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 88 games mark the most that the Cougars have played against any opponent. CofC has won 15 of the last 16 meetings, including 13 in a row between 2014-18.
The Cougars are looking to get back on track after dropping three games at UNCW in their first CAA series of the season.
Riley Miller, Payton Wade and Noel Dominguez pace the Cougars with seven RBI, and Wade has a team-best three homers. Aniz Roman had doubles in each game against UNCW and has four on the season to tie Miller and Wade for the top spot.
Jenna Helberg returned to the lineup last weekend after missing the previous 10 games and has a .345 batting average.
Payton Lemire has a team-best 2.19 ERA in eight appearances. Kylie Burke leads the Cougars with 38 strikeouts in a team-high 47.1 innings and owns a 2.96 ERA in 12 appearances.
CSU went 1-2 at Presbyterian last weekend, taking the finale when Annah Junge and Baylee Eaton combined on a one-hitter in an 8-0 victory. Junge leads the Bucs with 33.1 innings pitched, a 3.78 ERA and 17 strikeouts.
Brooklynn Brewington has a team-best .400 average and has stolen a base in six straight games. As a team, CSU is 20-for-20 in stolen base attempts, led by Brewington with seven. Ashley Meckley is hitting .313 with four doubles, four homers and nine RBI.
