HARRISONBURG, VA. – Jenna Helberg homered and drove in four runs in College of Charleston's doubleheader loss to James Madison at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday.
The Dukes won by scores of 17-2 and 11-3. The teams will conclude the series Sunday at 11 a.m.
Helberg followed a walk to Kayla Gutierrez and a single by Shealyn Starks with a three-run homer in the fourth inning of the second game to bring the Cougars within 5-3 before the Dukes pulled away.
Helberg has hit safely in all four games since her return from injury and raised her season batting average to .350. The home run was the second of her career.
JMU hit five home runs in the opener, including three in a six-run second, to open an early 7-0 lead. CofC got its two runs in the third on a double by Mia Dittoe, Starks' RBI single and a sac fly by Helberg.
