Cougars Continue Homestand with Doubleheader Against Canisius

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston continues a lengthy homestand on Tuesday when the Cougars host Canisius in a doubleheader at Patriots Point beginning at noon.
Both ends of the doubleheader will be streamed on FloSoftball.
The Golden Griffins remained in town following their participation in the Cougar Classic over the weekend, winning four of five games including a 7-3 victory over Charleston.
The Cougars have received strong performances from several freshmen with Mary-Kathryn Scott, Brooke Tranum and Halle Cannon all batting over .300 while starting all six games.
Scott leads the way at .375 and is tied with Tranum for the team lead in hits with six each. Tranum has scored four runs and driven in three and hit her first career home run against the Griffs. Cannon is batting .313 with a pair of doubles.
In the circle, freshman Caroline Conner earned her first collegiate win against Tennessee Tech, striking out five in a compete game. Conner has fanned 10 over 14.2 innings in four appearances.
Canisius scored 32 runs at the Cougar Classic with its top three hitters – Nicole Rivait (.438), Tiara Johnson (.385) and Megan Giese (.364) combining for 15 RBI. Johnson had a two-run single in the ninth in a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Boston University on Sunday.
Giese also won two games and struck out 15 in three pitching appearances, and Alexis Churchill contributed a win and a save.
