Cougars host Marist, Cleveland State in Maroon & Gold Challenge

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston softball team gears up to host yet again when the Cougars take on Marist and Cleveland State in the Maroon & Gold Challenge at Patriots Point. This will be the last tournament at home this season.
The weekend kicks off on Friday when the Cougars take on Marist at 2:30 and Cleveland State at 5:00. On Saturday, the Cougars face Cleveland State at 2:30 followed by a match up against Marist at 5:00.
All four College of Charleston games will be livestreamed on FloSoftball.
Admission will be required beginning at 1:30 on Friday, 12:30 on Saturday and 11:00 on Sun-day.
About the Cougars
The Cougars are coming off last week's Low Country Classic, including their first shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Robert Morris. Payton Lemire pitched a complete game against the Colonials, earning her first win of the season as well as her first career shutout with the Cougars.
Aniz Roman leads CofC's offense with an average of .405, including three doubles, and went 5-for-13 in last week's Lowcountry Classic. Mia Dittoe tied her career high with three hits against Rutgers on Saturday, and Karlee Hughes also had three hits later that day against Robert Morris.
Brooke Tranum leads the team with two home runs and is tied with Mary-Kathryn Scott with four RBI. In the circle, Lemire paces the Cougars with 19 strikeouts followed by Caroline Con-ner with 17.
