Cougars Wrap Up Non-Conference Home Slate Against SC State

Charleston, S.C. – College of Charleston plays its final non-conference home games of the season Wednesday with a doubleheader against South Carolina State beginning at 1 p.m.
The Cougars are coming off a CAA series win over Monmouth, taking the final two games with both won by freshman pitcher Caroline Conner. In the second game of Saturday's twinbill, Con-ner tossed her third shutout of the season and struck out a career-high 11.
Shealyn Starks had five hits and drove in four runs against the Hawks, and Karlee Hughes had four hits, including a double and her third home run of the season, scored three times and added three RBI.
The Bulldogs won two of three conference games against Howard last weekend, and Kaylah Leslie was named the MEAC Player of the Week after batting .714 with three runs scored and two RBI.
Charleston has won 46 of 48 meetings against SC State including all 26 at home. They last played in 2021 with the Cougars sweeping a doubleheader at Patriots Point by scores of 8-1 and 10-2.
