TOWSON, Md. – In front of a record 4,322 TU Arena crowd, the College of Charleston men's basketball team defeated Towson 72-56 for their seventh straight win. Charleston remains in sole possession of first place in the CAA.
Charleston jumped out to an 8-2 advantage behind threes from
Ben Burnham and
Kobe Rodgers and a slam dunk by
Ante Brzovic.
Following the 7-0 Cougar run, Charleston went cold from the field allowing Towson to go on a 9-0 run of their own and take a 11-10 lead. Charleston held tough on defense, stringing together a series of defensive blocks along with triples from
Reyne Smith and Rodgers to regain a 20-14 edge with nine minutes play.
Frankie Policelli scored on three straight possessions to kick start the Charleston offense and push the Cougars largest lead of the game, 37-22, with just under four minutes to play. CofC held on to the momentum to enter the locker room up 40-26 while shooting 57% from the field during the frame.
Policelli started the second half with a back-to-back threes to take a 43-26 advantage and Charleston never looked back, shooting a season-high 68% from three.

- Policelli had a game-high 17 points going 6-10 from the field.
- Smith contributed 12 points on four threes followed by Burnham and Rodgers with nine each. Rodgers added five rebounds.
- CJ Fulton dished out five assists to add to this nation's best assist/turnover ratio.
GAME NOTES
- Charleston made 15 threes at a 68% clip, the program's best shooting percentage and second most threes from deep this season . The Cougars shot 54.3% from the field.
- The Cougars posted a season-high 13 steals.
