MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston dropped the final game of the Cougar Classic against Oakland by a score of 6-4 at Patriots Point.
After spotting the Golden Grizzlies a run in the top of the first, the Cougars bunched together five hits and scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the frame.
Brooke Marquez tied it with an RBI double, and
Halle Cannon put Charleston ahead with a run-scoring single. Hits by
Savannah Lockhart and
Sierra Paradis capped the big Cougar inning.
Oakland scored twice in the second and it stayed a 4-3 game until the fourth when the visitors tallied three runs. The Cougars threatened in the sixth with a pair of one-out walks but were unable to break through.
Lemire allowed three earned runs in a complete game effort. Marquez, Cannon, Paradis and
Shealyn Starks each had two hits.
The Cougars visit South Carolina on Wednesday at 5 p.m. before hosting the Low Country Classic from Friday through Sunday.
