Mathis Turns in Dominant Performance Against Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Mackenzie Mathis struck out a season-high 10 to lead College of Charleston to a 2-1 victory over Stony Brook in the opening game of a CAA series.

The win was the sixth in seven conference games for the Cougars, who will look for their third straight series victory over the weekend.

Game Summary

Mathis had at least one strikeout in five innings including three in the first and two in the third, fifth and seventh.
She eclipsed her previous season best of seven while limiting the Seawolves to four hits.
Mathis was three outs away from her second straight CAA shutout before allowing a solo homer to lead off the seventh.
Mathis lowered her ERA in conference games to 1.56 with 23 strikeouts in 27 innings.
Sierra Paradis drove in both Charleston runs with a solo homer in the first and RBI single in the sixth.
