CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston looks to continue its surge up the CAA standings when the Cougars travel to Greensboro to conclude the regular season against North Carolina A&T.
The series includes games on Thursday and Friday at 2 p.m. and the finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. Charleston then returns to North Carolina for the CAA Tournament in Buies Creek beginning next Wednesday.
The Cougars (27-23, 17-7 CAA) enter the last three games of the season tied for fourth with Stony Brook. Delaware leads the conference at 20-4 followed by Elon (19-5) and Campbell (18-6). The top two teams receive byes in the opening round.
Charleston has won six of its eight conference series and another this week will tie the school record of seven set in 2005 when the Cougars won the SoCon regular season and tournament championships. That team won 17 conference games, a record the 2025 squad will break with one more victory.
The Cougars have rode strong pitching to its CAA Tournament berth with Mackenzie Mathis (1.83) and Ryley Kutter (2.10) ranking third and eighth, respectively, in ERA in conference games. Mathis has seven wins, three shutouts and 59 strikeouts against CAA foes.
At the plate, five starters are batting .298 or better against conference competition led by Leela Langston (.404) and Austy Miller (.389). Miller is riding a 12-game hitting streak, two shy of the longest since Charleston joined the CAA in 2014, going 19-for-38 (.500) with 11 runs scored and nine RBI over that span.
