TOWSON, Md. – College of Charleston volleyball lost to Towson in five sets (19-25, 12-25, 25-22, 25-19, 12-15) Saturday afternoon in the Coastal Athletic Association opener in SECU Arena.
Freshman
Makena Parthen had 10 blocks for the Cougars (6-5, 0-1 CAA), the most by a CofC player since 2022. Ella Sanders recorded a game high 18 kills for the Tigers (10-2, 1-0 CAA).
CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST TOWSON:
- Junior Lauren Dow captured her sixth double-double of the campaign with 31 assists and 14 digs.
- With her ninth assist of the match, Dow recorded her 2,500th career assist.
- Freshman Caroline Noonan and graduate Izzy Marinelli each had five blocks in the setback.
- Charleston hit .317 in the third set tallying 14 kills and just one attack error.
- Marinelli, sophomore Cole Crews and freshman Jumana Martin each served two aces.
- Martin was one of three Cougars with at least 14 digs, leading the squad with 25.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 14-9 against Towson in the series.
- CofC is now 7-2 versus the Tigers in five set contests.
- Martin extended her streak of consecutive matches with a service ace to 11 contests.
- Martin eclipsed the 200-dig mark on the campaign.
- Senior Morgan Cobb tallied her 250th career kill.
- Parthen's nine blocks are the most by a Cougar since Sofie Vogel had 12 Oct. 15, 2022, against Northeastern.
- Charleston's 15 blocks are a season high.
