MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost both ends of a doubleheader to Rutgers Saturday at Patriots Points by scores of 13-2 and 5-2.

GAME 1 CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST RUTGERS:
- Redshirt junior Carson Bryant allowed one run across 3.1 innings, punching out two batters in the no-decision.
- Holding a 2-1 advantage through five, Rutgers added to its lead with four runs in the sixth and eighth innings before making it a 13-2 ballgame with three runs in the ninth.
- Junior Braeden Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored in the set back.
- Graduate Reece Holbrook swiped three bases, a career-best for the outfielder.
GAME 2 CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST RUTGERS:
- The Scarlet Knights jumped out to a 5-0 advantage through three.
- Graduate Will Tippett put the Cougars on the board with a sacrifice fly in the home half of the fifth.
- Charleston tacked on its second run in the seventh with Smith driving in the run on a fielder's choice.
- Sophomore Drew Medley tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen while redshirt sophomore Kevin Samonsky didn't allow a run over the final three frames.
- Freshman Nick Diaz, redshirt sophomore Jackson Berini and junior Brent Gibbs each tallied two hits in the setback.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston slips to 1-2 against Rutgers in the all-time series.
- Gibbs has multiple hits in two of the contests this weekend.
