MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost 14-4 in eight innings in the finale to Rutgers Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST RUTGERS:

Down 6-0, Charleston clawed back in the home half of the frame with a three-spot.
Following a one-out walk by graduate Reece Holbrook, CofC collected three straight extra-base knocks. Redshirt senior Ethan Plyler tripled off the right field wall before graduate Dylan Johnson and freshman Nick Diaz collected doubles to the left-center gap.
Plyler drove in his second run of the ballgame in the next frame, singling into left.
Rutgers went on to score eight unanswered in the series win for the Scarlet Knights.

OF NOTE:

Charleston is 1-3 against Rutgers in the all-time series.
Plyler picked up his second multi-hit game of the year Sunday.
Freshman Sean McCabe made his collegiate debut and fellow first year Jake Amman tallied his first career hit.

Charleston hits the road for its first midweek of the year, traveling to No. 6 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, Feb. 17. First pitch from Spring Brooks Stadium is scheduled for 4 p.m. with the contest airing live on ESPN+.
