Softball Takes Third CAA Series Win

MOUNT PLESANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston softball team picked up its third CAA series win Sunday, March 22 defeating North Carolina A&T 2-1 at Patriots Point.
The Cougars are now 16-17 overall and 7-2 in the conference.
Leela Langston hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to break the tie and send Bronwyn Conroy home.

CRITICAL POINTS
- Starting in the circle for Charleston was Jules Raymond who struck out three straight Aggies to end the top of the first. She added two more strikeouts through the top of the third allowing just one run.
- In the bottom of the third inning, Conroy had a base hit for one RBI sending Karlee Hughes home from third to tie the game 1-1.
- The Aggies and the Cougars would remain tied through five innings before Langston would hit a deep fly ball, surrendering the out and sending Conroy home for the 2-1 win.
- Mackenzie Mathis would retire two straight batters to end the game.
- The Charleston pitching staff would strikeout seven with Raymond claiming five. Raymond and Mathis allowed just one hit each from A&T.
- Conroy added two stolen bases for 26 on the season and two hits for 41 total.
- Charleston travels to Georgia Southern for a mid-week contest Tuesday, March 24 with first pitch set for 6 p.m.
- Next weekend the Cougars will travel to UNCW for the fourth conference series of the season. The series begins Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m.
- The Cougars will return home Friday, April 3 to host Elon at Patriots Point.
