Redshirt senior Ethan Plyler also left the yard for the Cougars, who handed the Eagles just third third home loss in 20 tries this year.
CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST WINTHROP:
- Charleston came out swinging, putting six runs on the board before Winthrop came to the plate.

- Leading 6-2 in the fifth, LaCoste launched his first homer of the day, a 429-foot blast to left.
- Adding an eighth run in the sixth, the Cougars plated six more runs in the seventh.
- LaCoste slugged his second long ball, a two-run shot to right.
- Two batters later, Plyler hit his own two-run homer of the evening.
- Charleston continued the momentum with graduate Reece Holbrook doubling in Tippett before scoring on a freshman Nick Diaz sacrifice fly.
- Diaz collected his second sac fly in the ninth, driving in Holbrook, who led off the inning with a triple.
- Redshirt senior Alex Lyon earned the win tossing 4.0 innings of relief.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston improves to 10-5 against Winthrop and 6-2 in Rock Hill.

- LaCoste's hitting streak reached 14 games Tuesday.
- LaCoste is the first Cougar to have a multi-homer game in back-to-back seasons since Trotter Harlan and Luke Wood achieved the feat in 2023 and 2024.
- Lyon made his 89th career relief outing and earned his 18th career victory, one shy of Carter Love's record 19 relief victories.
- Lyon went 4.0 innings out of the bullpen against the Eagles, the fourth instance this season and eighth of his career of at least four frames in an appearance.
- Every Cougar starter reached base with five players collecting multi-RBI contests and four tallying multi-hit performances.
- Tuesday saw Charleston set game highs in runs scored, hits, RBI and home runs (tied).
- Charleston's 16 hits at Winthrop were the most in a contest since CofC hit 17 April 1, 2025, versus Charleston Southern.
