
Johnson Records First Four-Hit Game in Victory

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – Graduate Dylan Johnson went 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI as College of Charleston baseball beat Charleston Southern, 7-5, Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.
The Cougars have won nine of the last 10 games and improve to 20-20 on the season while the Bucs slide to 22-16 overall.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CHARLESTON SOUTHERN:
- Graduate Will Tippet sent a 1-0 pitch 397 feet for a two-run shot in the second.
- Charleston Southern scored in the third before plating three more in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.
- In the home half of the fourth, freshman Nick Diaz tripled down the right field line before scoring on a Tippett RBI groundout.
- Trailing 5-4 in the seventh, Johnson leveled the game with an RBI single to left before redshirt junior Braeden Smith gave the Cougars the lead again with a sacrifice fly.
- Johnson capped off his four-hit effort with an RBI single in the eighth for an insurance marker.
- Diaz finished the night 3-for-4 with three runs in the victory.
- Graduate Kurt Rogers earned his fourth win of the year, tossing 2.0 innings of relief.
- Redshirt sophomore Ryan Hench collected his first collegiate save, throwing two scoreless frames.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston increases its advantage to 69-18 in the series with Charleston Southern
- Sophomore Alex LaCoste singled to extend his hitting streak to 10 games and has hits in 25 of the last 26 contests.
- Redshirt senior Ethan Plyler had a team-high eight assists.
- Johnson tallied his team-best 15th multi-hit performance Tuesday while Tippett and Diaz recorded their third and fifth multi-hit games of the season, respectively.
- CofC improves to 9-3 in the month of April and 6-1 on Tuesdays.
