Argyriou, Brantley Named Harris Teeter Student-Athletes of the Week

Despite the Cougars' pair of close 4-3 losses this weekend to Winthrop and Charlotte, Mara Argyriou was perfect over the stretch. The Cypriot swept both fifth flight singles matches with a win over Winthrop's Tijana Uzelac 6-3, 6-4, followed by a dominant performance over Charlotte's Fleur Holtkamp 6-0, 6-1. For doubles action, she and partner Katherine Schofield picked up second flight victories over the Uzelac/Megan Kauffman combo (6-3) and Holtkamp/Sierra Stone (6-4). Argyriou's season records have risen to 4-1 in singles action and 3-1 in doubles play.

Jarrell Brantley | Men's Basketball | Freshman | Columbia, S.C. | Undecided

Freshman forward Jarrell Brantley (Columbia, S.C.) led College of Charleston to a 2-0 week with routs of Towson (65-47) on Feb. 4 and Delaware (60-38) on Feb. 6. The Cougars have now won five of their last six games in conference play and their last two games by a combined margin of victory of 40 points. Brantley registered his second career double-double with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds versus Towson. He extended his career-best double-digit scoring streak to five games with 11 points in 20 minutes of action versus Drexel. For the week, Brantley averaged a team-leading 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds against the Tigers and Dragons combined. He also shot 52 percent from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Brantley leads all freshmen in the CAA in rebounding averaging 6.5 rpg. He has made his last 13 consecutive free throw attempts dating back to a 6-for-6 performance at UNCW on Jan. 30.
