MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston got solid work in the circle from freshmen McKenna Kelly and Lauren Sandor in a pair of losses to UNCW on Sunday at Patriots Point.

Kelly went the final three innings of a 7-2 loss in the opener and allowed only two hits and one unearned run with a pair of strikeouts. Sandor gave up four hits and fanned six in six innings in a 3-0 defeat in the nightcap.

The Cougars had several opportunities in the first game, including the bases loaded with one out in the first, but were unable to break through until the sixth when Mia Dittoe lined a two-run single to left. Jada Santiago had three hits and a home run and drove in four for the Seahawks.

Amberlyn Pearce tossed a four-hit shutout in the second game to outduel Sandor. The Cougars trailed by three in the bottom of the sixth when they loaded the bases with one out but could not come through with a clutch hit.

The teams wrap up their three-game series Sunday at noon.
