CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston takes on city rival Charleston Southern for the only time this season when the teams meet Tuesday evening at the CSU Softball Complex. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
The game marks the 95th meeting between the Cougars and Buccaneers with Charleston holding a 58-36 lead. Since the start of the softball program in 1993, the Cougars have played CSU every season except for 2002 and the Covid-shortened 2020 campaign.
The teams split a doubleheader in North Charleston last season. The Cougars won the first game, 4-3, behind two doubles and a home run by Aniz Roman and a complete game outing from Payton Lemire. Sierra Paradis had her first career hit and RBI in a 2-1 loss in the nightcap.
The Bucs are 20-21 overall and are tied for second in the Big South with a 7-5 conference record after shutting out Radford twice in three games last weekend.
