Late Comeback Lifts Pride Over Cougars

The Cougars struck first in the third inning led by singles from Brooke Marquez, Aniz Roman and Mia Dittoe to load the bases. Brooke Tranum then doubled to clear the bases for a career-high three RBI.
Marquez and Kaytlin Stacey both singled to lead off the fifth and Roman drove in both runs with her team-leading eighth double to take a 5-0 lead for the Cougars. Marquez continued her stellar 6-6 weekend at the plate with a double in the sixth and another diving defensive play at shortstop.
The Pride scored their first run in the top of the sixth with an RBI double, but Shealyn Starks responded with her fourth home run of the season to take a 6-1 lead going into the top of the seventh.
Hofstra's bats lit up for 11 runs and six hits in the final inning to propel themselves in front of the Cougars and secure the series win.
Charleston will play the final game of the 2024 season at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday against the Pride.
