Softball Game Against Queens Moved to Tuesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston softball game against Queens at Patriots Point has been moved up to Tuesday at 3 p.m. due to the threat of rain in the area the following day.
The contest marks the first meeting between the Cougars and Royals in softball and continues a 14-game homestand for Charleston that culminates with the Lowcountry Classic which begins on Friday.
Three Cougars are batting over .300 during the early stages of the season, including Austy Miller who is at .368 with a team-leading seven hits, four runs scored and four stolen bases. Kaytlin Stacey (.333, 3 RBI) and Sierra Paradis (.316, HR, team-leading 4 RBI) are also off to hot starts.
In the circle, Mackenzie Mathis picked up her first career win in a 6-4 victory over Marshall on Saturday. Mathis has 16 strikeouts in 19.1 innings in four appearances. Ryley Kutter worked 2.2 innings of one-hit relief against the Thundering Herd and earned a save.
Queens won one of three in its opening weekend, defeating LeMoyne behind four innings of shutout ball from Jordan Dunn. Kaylee DeJesus has four hits while Olivia Thornton and former Cougar Natalie Windham have three RBI.
