CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston opened the Steve Baumrind Invitational with a four-set win (25-17, 21-25, 25-12, 25-23) against Youngstown State Friday evening in TD Arena.

The Cougars sit even at 4-4 on the season while the Penguins slip to 4-3.

Izzy Marinelli had a season-high 15 kills for the Cougars while freshman
Caroline Noonan added 14 kills and six blocks in the victory.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST YOUNGSTOWN STATE:
- Junior Lauren Dow tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 44 assists and 12 digs.
- Dow was one of four Cougars with 10-plus digs, led by freshman Jumana Martin's 18.
- Charleston used an 11-0 run in the third set to power its way to a 25-12 victory.
- CofC capped off the win with 19 kills and a .313 hitting percentage in the final set.

OF NOTE:
- Charleston evens the all-time series with Youngstown State at 1-1 following Friday's win.
- CofC has had at least seven service aces in five of its eight matches this season.
- Martin has recorded an ace in each of her first eight collegiate matches.
- Dow surpassed 2,400 career assists Friday and now sits at 2,428.
- Four of Noonan's six blocks were solo. The middle blocker has multiple blocks in seven contests in 2025.
- Marinelli's final kill of the evening was the 600th of her college career.
