MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C – Lily Thorpe hit her first career home run to help bring the Cougs back from an 8-0 deficit to defeat UPenn 10-8 in the last day of the Lowcountry Classic.
Charleston is now 7-4 concluding a two-week stretch of hosting tournaments at Patriots Point.
The Cougars scored 10 runs between the third and the sixth to secure Sunday's victory over the Quakers.

- Trailing 8-0 with just one hit going into the bottom of the third, shortstop Austy Miller doubled sending Thorpe home from second for her first run of the day. Leela Langston then singled for Bronwyn Conroy to run home from third. Not done yet, Hailey Seymour grounded out, but not before Miller could secure the Cougars' third straight run. To round out the bottom of the fourth and cut the Quakers' lead in half, Karlee Hughes doubled to send Langston running home.
- Jules Raymond shutout UPenn in the top of the fourth to quickly return to the Charleson batting order.
- Charleston tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth when Miller singled up the middle for 2 RBI and Julia Sitterding and Conroy scored. Langston then sent a sacrifice fly to deep right field and Miller scored, leaving the Cougs down just one run.
- In the bottom of the fifth with Karlee Hughes on third, Thorpe hit her first career home run on a 3-2 count to send Charleston into the lead 9-8.
- Mackenzie Mathis entered the game in the top of the sixth and immediately shutout Penn in just five pitches.
- Conroy earned a security run after Miller grounded out in the bottom of the sixth to wrap up Charleston's 10-0 streak.
- Charleston had 11 hits with Conroy leading the game with four. The freshman also led the game in runs with three.
- Four pitchers appeared for Charleston, including starter Kendall Thackston. Raymond and Mathis allowed zero runs and just two hits in their combined 5 innings pitched.
- After Sunday's game, Conroy moves to 14 stolen bases and has a .500 batting average with 13 total runs.
- Samantha Horn made her first career start against the Quakers with two at bats and walked twice.
- Charleston takes on its first road trip heading to Atlanta, Ga. for the I-75 Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech. The Cougs will play the Yellow Jackets Thursday, February 19 with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
- Including Georgia Tech, Charleston will face Purdue and Yale throughout the weekend.
- Following the conclusion of the tournament, Charleston returns home to host Georgia State in a three-game series Feb 27 – Mar 1.
