
Charleston Softball to Compete in I-75 Tournament

ATLANTA, GA. – College of Charleston softball travels to Atlanta, Ga. for the I-75 Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech Feb. 19-21.
Charleston holds a 7-4 record through two weekends of play. The Cougars will face Purdue and Yale along with Georgia Tech.
Going into the weekend, Mackenzie Mathis and Bronwyn Conroy earned weekly CAA honors, being named Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Mathis recorded a 2-0 record at the Lowcountry Classic with a 1.31 ERA and 14 strikeouts across 16 innings pitched.
Conroy scored eight runs and stole seven bases at the Classic. The freshman leads the NCAA in stolen bases with 14 total and hits with 20.
Charleston will compete in four total contests this weekend, leading off facing the Yellow Jackets Thursday, February 19 at 1 p.m. Friday morning, the Cougars will play against Purdue with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. Following the morning's game, Charleston will face Georgia Tech a second time at 4 p.m. To conclude the tournament, Charleston plays Yale Saturday, February 21 at 11 a.m. and Purdue at 1:30 p.m.
Thursday's meeting will mark the first time the Cougars and the Yellow Jackets have met since 2000, where Charleston won 2-1. In 2019, Charleston last faced Purdue winning 8-4 at home. The Cougars will face Yale for the first time in program history on Saturday.
