Cougars Drop First of Series Against Georgia State

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston dropped their first contest of the weekend against Georgia State 3-0 Friday evening.
The Cougars are now 7-10 on the season and 7-5 at home.

- In the bottom of the first, Bronwyn Conroy advanced to third on her 16th stolen base of the season after a single to short stop. Austy Miller then singled leaving two Cougars in scoring position, but Charleston could not connect before the end of the inning.
- Mackenzie Mathis faced three batters in the top of the second, striking out two to close the top of the inning. The pitcher held Georgia State scoreless through four innings before the Panthers scored on a bases loaded walk.
- The Panthers tacked on two more in the top of the seventh to leave the final score 3-0.
- Conroy goes 16-18 in stolen bases this season. She had a team high two hits Friday evening.
- Mathis pitched six innings allowing just one run and striking out six Panthers.
- Charleston plays Georgia State Saturday, February 28 with first pitch set for 2 p.m. at Patriots Point.
- The final game of the series is set for Sunday, March 1 at 12 p.m. to mark the first of four Signature Sundays this season where fans can get posters autographed by the team post-game.
