MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston shutout North Carolina A&T 6-0 Friday, March 20 at Patriots Point to begin the weekend's three-game series.
The Cougars are 15-16 overall and 6-1 in the CAA following Friday's contest.
Mackenzie Mathis pitched seven innings striking out 10 Aggies and allowing only four hits on the evening.

- In the top of the first, Mathis immediately struck out two Aggies to begin the game with a no-hit first frame.
- Leela Langston flied out to center field with Bronwyn Conroy on third for an RBI and a 1-0 Cougar lead in the first.
- In the bottom of the second, Sierra Paradis doubled for two RBI sending Karlee Hughes and Haley Wolsky home. The Cougars added a fourth run when Halle Cannon walked with bases loaded and Conroy found home.
- Mathis struck out three straight Aggies in the top of the fourth and two in the top of the fifth.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Conroy grounded out but not before Sam Horn could add another run for the Cougars while Audri Bates advanced to third. Julia Sitterding singled during her third at bat and Bates scored leaving the final score 6-0.
- Mathis was just two strikeouts shy of her career high single game 12 strikeouts. Friday's performance is a new season high.
- The Cougars had 10 hits on the evening, and Cannon is on a three-game double streak.
- Langston had 11 putouts against N.C. A&T with one hit and one RBI.
- Conroy continues to lead Charleston with a .390 batting average, 39 hits, and 24 stolen bases.
- Charleston hosts N.C. A&T Saturday and Sunday at Patriots Point. Saturday's game is set to begin at 3 p.m. while Sunday's will begin at 1 p.m.
