Cougars Demolish Blue Hose on the Road

CLINTON, S.C. – Cadence Alberty scored her first collegiate home run at Presbyterian in Charleston's 8-1 victory Wednesday afternoon.
The Cougars are now 17-21 overall and 7-5 in the conference.
Mackenzie Mathis matched her strikeout season high with 10 against the Blue Hose.

- After two scoreless innings for both teams, Leela Langston secured a two RBI base hit, sending Karlee Hughes and Bronwyn Conroy home for a 2-0 lead in the top of the third.
- Presbyterian added one in the bottom of the third and Charleston would respond with a two-run top of the fourth. Sierra Paradis singled sending Sam Horn home for Charleston's third run. Conroy singled on a 1-1 count for an RBI to make the score 4-1.
- Conroy had her third base hit in the top of the fifth sending Langston home for a 5-1 advantage. Mathis struck out two in the bottom of the inning.
- Continuing to match the score to the inning, Hughes tallied an RBI and Horn scored the sixth run of the afternoon in the top of the sixth.
- In the top of the seventh, Alberty pinch hit for Halle Cannon and hit her first career collegiate home run. Lastly, Horn added another run for the 8-1 result.
- In the circle, Mathis allowed just one run and five hits in seven innings of work. She had 10 strikeouts to match her season high.
- Horn had a career high three runs against Presbyterian. She went three-for-two with both hits being doubles.
- Langston had two RBI and two hits with one run scored and 11 putouts. She had one double on the afternoon.
- Alberty hit a home run in her lone plate appearance.
- Conroy had three hits and inched one stolen base closer to the single season program record. The freshman has 29 stolen bases so far and needs 30 to tie the record set by Jay Wrightsman in 2025.
- Charleston hosts Elon at Patriots Point for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m.
- Saturday the Cougars will celebrate Senior Day along with an egg hunt around the ballpark.
