
Softball Records Eighth Walk-Off in 7-6 Victory Over Charleston Southern

Charleston is now 24-24 on the 2026 season and picked up the 19th home win of the season.
The Cougars tallied the eighth walk-off of the season in game one in the bottom of the seventh from a Hailey Seymour single RBI.
GAME ONE CRITICAL POINTS
- Mackenzie Mathis started in the circle for Charleston and tallied five strikeouts across five innings of work.
- Charleston Southern scored one run in the top of the second before tallying two more in the top of the third for a 3-0 lead.
- Trailing through the fourth inning, Charleston responded with a three-run bottom of the fifth. Austy Miller doubled on the first pitch of the inning before scoring on a Sam Horn RBI single. Bronwyn Conroy marked an RBI to send Savannah Scott home before Seymour would plate the tying run.
- Charleston Southern responded with a run in the top of the sixth and two more in the top of the seventh.
- The Cougars scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh for an eighth walk-off victory this season. Cannon began the effort with an RBI double to send Julia Sitterding and Leela Langston home for a 6-5 game. With just one out, Miller bunted and Cannon scored the tying run. Seymour hit the game-winner for a 7-6 victory.
- Charleston Southern scored two runs to begin the game and the Cougars immediately responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first frame. Conroy tallied another run on the day, and Cannon scored when Miller singled up the middle.
- Kendall Thackston held the Buccaneers scoreless until the top of the seventh when Ryley Kutter entered the circle for the Cougars.
- Miller doubled to send Langston home from second base for a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
- Charleston Southern would respond with a two-run top of the seventh and Charleston would not respond for the final score of 4-3.
- Cannon drove in two runs while Miller drove in three against the Buccaneers.
- Charleston totaled 13 hits and 10 runs in the doubleheader.
- Mathis had five strikeouts while Lily Thorpe had two and Thackston had one. Thorpe earned her first win of the season.
- Charleston hosts UNCW for the final home series of the season April 24-26 at Patriots Point.
