Cougars Fall to Elon in Series Opener

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston dropped a 9-2 decision to Elon in the opening game of a CAA series Thursday night at Patriots Point.
The Phoenix jumped out to an 8-0 lead before the Cougars dented the scoreboard in the fourth when Shealyn Starks singled in Aniz Roman.
Charleston added its other in the sixth. Halle Cannon drove a line drive to the fence in left for her second triple of the season and came across on Roman's second hit of the game.
Roman has hit safely in five of her last six games and is 11-for-22 with five runs scored and five RBI over that stretch, raising her batting average to .293 on the year.
The teams continue the series Friday with a 3 p.m. first pitch.
