
Softball Hosts App State and USC Upstate for Mid-Week Games

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Charleston hosts Appalachian State and USC Upstate for three mid-week contests Tuesday and Wednesday at Patriots Point.
Charleston will play App State Tuesday, March 10 at 5 p.m. and will host USC Upstate for a doubleheader Wednesday, March 11 at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Charleston is 11-13 following a 3-0 conference opening weekend against Monmouth.
Over the weekend, Mackenzie Mathis pitched a complete game Friday and three innings Sunday with six total strikeouts to claim both wins.
Ryley Kutter pitched her first complete game of the season Saturday and struck out seven Hawks and allowed just four hits.
Bronwyn Conroy hit her second triple of the season Friday against the Hawks. Leela Langston then singled allowing the freshman outfielder to run home, scoring the first run of the weekend.
Freshman Cadence Alberty hit a walk-off single to send Langston home in the bottom of the eighth inning for the series sweep.
App State is 17-5 this season while USC Upstate is 15-9.
Charleston has a 37-14 overall record against App State and a 22-5 home record.
Against USC Upstate, the Cougars hold an 0-2 record playing on the road both times.
Tuesday's game will feature a Disco at the Diamond promotion with Charleston branded mood cups as a giveaway. The game will be streamed on FloSports with the link to watch found here.
