Cougars Take Down Aggies in Home Return

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The College of Charleston softball team defeated NC A&T 6-5 in front of the Patriots Point home crowd after an eight-game road stint.
Brooke Marquez had a career day at the plate, going 3-3 at the plate with two RBI. She scored the first run of the game in the second frame after a single and advancing to third on a stolen base, forcing an Aggie error that brought her home. The graduate student delivered again in the following inning with a two-RBI single to take a 3-0 lead.
The Aggies responded in the fourth with a grand slam, but the Cougars bounced back with RBI singles from Mia Dittoe and Savannah Lockhart to regain their lead at 5-3.
NC A&T tied the game in the top of the sixth after a lead-off double, but Dittoe hit a sacrifice fly to allow Kaytlin Stacey to score the go-ahead run.
Payton Lemire came in for the final two innings to fan three batters and secure the Cougars' win.
Charleston and the Aggies will face off again on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. for Senior Day. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. with senior festivities beginning 20 minutes prior.
